The nose is at once hidden and mysterious. Why do these old vines continually DO this? Deep, ethereal, regal black raspberry small forest fruits beckons. ‘Elixir’ is a word that comes to mind. Perhaps also ‘depths that remain to be plumbed!’ This Old Eastern Block, while currently more ‘mute’ than the Vieilles Vignes, is lovely and long, delicious, dense. It carries effortlessly the weight of chalky finesse – stony, impenetrable. Utterly fine and ageable.
