Wow! We wanted to call this one a “Mini-Foxcroft,” but clearly, this one puts the oyster back in the shell! It has its own thing going on. From the cooler, Eastern side of Cuesta, this wine displays classic Bench red-soil reduction/terroir and  straight-ahead flinty citrus flavours with a lovely lanolin texture. Finishes with a glossy sheen, but the wood is invisible! Doesn’t have “La Mâche” of Foxcroft or Wingfield, but clearly it does have the “Soul of Cuesta.” Displaying richness and tension as it ages. It beguiles with a chalky-dry finish.
