Once again showing us Niagara-on-the-Lake’s vocation for Gamay Noir, and how it can be so juicy, yet that great Gamay acidity keeps the freshness and the youthful energy in the wine. C'est un bouquet pur qui éclate et qui est absolument séducteur quand le vin est avalé on perçoit le texture de velours et les cerises sur et fais pas de gaffe il s'agit ici d'un Gamay Noir mais l'élégance nous fait penser à l'élégance du pin en noir malgré la grande pourcentage de grappe entière qu'on a pu employer encore une fois ce vin nous montre de quoi Niagara est capable avec le cépage Gamay Noir : comment il peut être si juteux, tout en gardant cette acidité signature du cépage ce qui garde la fraîcheur et la jeune énergie dans ce vin? Les chasseurs de terroirs \u003cspan\u003esauront demander en quelle façon ce Gamay Noir va nous rappeler le fameux Chardonnay et s’il est situé dans ce même terroir? Ma foi, depuis l'instar, il est riche mais serré, salin, avec une longue finale. Bien sûr que le nez ne rappelle pas le Gamay Noir – mais aussi d'autres vins qui ont des odeurs de cassis; du thé de cassis et puis bien sûr des fruits rouges sur une finale caillouteuse. Au palais, il est soyeux et riche; serré et minéral, et on croque dans le bleuet en finale. Certains vont peut-être trouver que le côté minéral et acidulé ensemble est un peu dur à comprendre! Une année en cave fera du bien – on se dit qu’il ressemble beaucoup à son grand frère, le Chardonnay de Wismer-Wingfield. Deux années en cave, peut-être trois, et vous verrez – il va s'améliorer – mais on doit se demander où est-ce qu'il s'en va ? It made luscious wine back then, and it's making even better wine now as the vineyard heads into its middle age. It’s dominated by the typical saline and rusty, flinty smell that you get in Vineland everywhere. In a white wine, it might be oyster shell, or sea spray, or low tide, or just flinty, but in Gamay Noir, we find the bloody, meaty, deep berry beast that reminds us that we are hungry! Deep cherry liquor with an almost molasses-like hint of sweetness – although totally dry – this is a masterful Wismer-Foxcroft Gamay Noir! Rich with some delicious minerality on the nose – mineral on the palate, and mineral again on the finish! Put this in your cellar. Although delicious now, it will certainly improve for up to five years and hold much longer than that.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"MsoNormal\"\u003e\u003cem\u003e\u003cspan lang=\"EN-US\"\u003eA Word from Mary: So wild and free, so Foxcroft!\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/em\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"MsoNormal\"\u003e \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"MsoNormal\"\u003e\u003cspan lang=\"FR-CA\"\u003ePlusieurs d'entre vous vont reconnaître le nom de Wismer-Foxcroft, l'un des plus grands terroirs de chardonnay sur le bench à Vineland. Mais depuis longtemps, il y a aussi du Gamay Noir planté dans ce vignoble, et ceci est notre 9eme édition du Gamay Noir Wismer-Foxcroft : nous avons commencé en 2016 avec ce vignoble. Le vin était adorable et juteux à ce moment, mais il fait un vin encore plus délicieux et sérieux maintenant que les vignes sont de moyenne âge. Le nez est dominé non par des arômes typiques : c'est l'unité de pierres à fusil avec ces odeurs rouges, rouillées qu'on trouve partout à Vineland. Dans un vin blanc il sentira la coquille huître ou l'embruns de de la mer ou de la marée basse. Quoique, avec le cépage Gamay Noir, nous trouvons la côté \u003cspan\u003eviandée – un peu de baie sauvage – qui nous rappelle qu'on a très faim. \u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan lang=\"FR-CA\"\u003e😉\u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan lang=\"FR-CA\"\u003e En bouche, ça nous rappelle une liqueur de cerises foncées avec une sucrosité qui me dit -quoique totalement sec – que ce Wismer-Foxcroft Gamay Noir est magistral ! Au nez une richesse, oui – mais aussi une minéralité sur la palais et minérale encore sur le finale. Mettez-vous un peu de ça dans votre cave : quoique délicieux maintenant, il s'améliorera pour facilement 5 ans. Higher acid compared to what we're used to with Pinot Noir, but a great site, and absolutely delicious Gamay Noir! Not as fruity and confectionery as some.
